We had a blast at the 2nd Annual Fun Run...brought to IAA by the Move it! Move it! program. Students had a great time getting exercise and cheering our schoolmates as they ran their laps around IAA. With such great weather we decided to have a picnic outside and enjoyed all the festivities to take in, including a performance by
James Kochalka Superstar! We hope to see everyone out there again next year and wanted to shout out a big thanks to Ms. Vierling, Ms. Cara Gleason, Nurse Mungeon and all of the sponsors for all their hard work coordinating this amazing event! On November 18th we will be walking down to the Flynn Center to watch the student matinee series performance of
Lilly’s Purple Plastic Purse! We are in need of Parent Chaperons to help both classes walk to the Flynn Center. We will be leaving IAA at approximately 11:15 for the 12:00 showing. We ask that volunteers are available from 11:00 AM until approximately 1:30 PM - please check in with Ms. Maggie or Ms. Emily if you would like to help out. We both have spaces still available! We hope you can join us on November 14th for the Kindergarten Literacy Breakfast, from 8:10-9:00 AM. Parents, siblings, grandparents and caregivers are all welcome to come into the K classrooms to see what our literacy learning is all about! We will have breakfast snacks and juice and of course lots of great books to read. Kindergarten students will get a chance to show you the books they are reading in their browser boxes, poetry and songbook binders and writing folders.
What a treat! The Fork in the Road food truck stopped by during our recess time! We each enjoyed a smoothie made with local honey and berries! Every Friday both Kindergarten classes get together to sing songs and celebrate the learning community we have created! If you would like to stop by and join in for a round of "Down By the Bay" check in with Ms. Maggie or Ms. Emily!
We have been studying all kinds of lines - Vertical, curved, zigzag, dotted and so many more! We tried our first water color resist and sampled what happens when you paint over the crayons. This is a great introduction to classroom materials and segways perfectly into letter and number formation. Ms. Maggie and I had a great first day of kindergarten with our classes! It was so much fun getting to see all of our students and just starting to learn all about what they like to do and are interested in! We were very surprised to have a fire drill the first day but everyone did such a great job following directions. We can't wait for school tomorrow and look forward to introducing the many exciting new choice stations and activities to come. See you tomorrow! - The Kindergarten Team |
